The changes of other messaging tools by Google, like Workspace suite, are not just windows floating along with your emails. They will get their screens in Gmail that can be accessed with large buttons on the left-hand side. The new layout of Gmail is called integrated view. According to Mountain View, headquartered, from February 8, one can start testing the new layout.
Gmail to Get a New Layout, Integrated View
At some point, Google will encourage users to switch to the new layout. Gmail users who have not opted for the new layout by April will be taken to the new layout and can switch back to the old one from settings. However, the option to go back to the old settings will disappear by the end of the second quarter, when the new layout becomes the standard experience for Gmail. The new layout looks more convenient and accessible. We need to see how the changes will be considered by users who are using the old layout for years. It looks like the new interface will be easy to access other tools without having them on the screen. While describing the new layout, Google said, “Easily switch between your inbox, important conversations, and join meetings without having to switch between tabs or open a new window.” The integrated view will be available with Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Plus, Frontline, Nonprofit, G Suite Basic, or Business account. However, it is not available to Workspace Essentials customers. According to the company, there will be notification bubbles that let you know if other tools need your attention. There will be a list of all your chats on the left or right of your emails.
